The Sweet Vape (VvF)

What the heck is “The Sweet Vape”, and why haven’t I ever heard of it before? These might be questions you are asking yourself, and it’s the main reason for doing a write up of this variable voltage bottom feeder. As far as I can tell, not many vapers in the community use “The Sweet Vape”, and even more have no clue it exists! It is rarely mentioned in a discussion of VV bottom fed mods that are available on the market today. There always seems to be a good amount of buzz around VV feeders such as the VV Reo Woodvil, VV Red Sky Cutlass, VV Monkeyboxx, VV Grip, and VV Bogger Box, but “The Sweet Vape” is more like the unpopular kid at the high school dance….standing alone in the corner. Just for the record, that kid was me! “The Sweet Vape” is made by sweetvapes.com , the same company who makes the aforementioned Grip feeders as well. So, what’s the story? Let’s go over the mod and see what’s doing…

On this episode we are joined by Dr. Konstantinos Farsalinos, Cardiologist at Onassis Cardiac Center Athens, Greece to discuss his study, “The effects of vaping on the cardiovascular system, comparison with cigarette smoking”. He covers smoking and vaping effects on cardiac function and coronary flow.

The study was presented at the EuroPRevent 2012 in Dublin Ireland an annual conference aimed to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease in Europe. Dr. Farsalinos presents a wide swath of data to show the effectiveness of electronic cigarettes.

Via their website, the FDA is now warning smokers against the use of electronic cigarettes, because the risks of such nicotine delivery systems are not precisely known. The statement reads, “e-Cigarettes may contain ingredients that are known to be toxic to humans, and may contain other ingredients that may not be safe. Additionally, these products may be attractive to young people and may lead kids to try other tobacco products, including conventional cigarettes, which are known to cause disease and lead to premature death.” It continues, “Because clinical studies about the safety and efficacy of these products have not been submitted to FDA, consumers currently have no way of knowing whether e-cigarettes are safe for their intended use, what types or concentrations of potentially harmful chemicals are found in these products, or how much nicotine they are inhaling when they use these products.” I found the Google “Lay Person Translation”, found in the second half of the blog write up, to be very amusing. It was a much needed laugh after trying to digest the FDA’s point of view. Southeastern Pennsylvanians Rejoice! There is in fact a brick and mortar store in your neck of the woods! VaporPhoxxe located in the 263 Marketplace in Warminster (Philadelphia) Pennsylvania is a vendor of Totally Wicked (Juice, PV’s, & Accessories), stocks their own house blend juices and carries a bunch of accessories. They have a great lounge area and a “testing bar”. The above pictures of actually of my trip to VaporPhoxxe, and it was a great time. The owner and his co-workers were extremely friendly and the atmosphere was extremley inviting! I left with 7 juices and could have probably bought more had time and cash permitted. Provari & Genesis style atomizers are a tough pair to master. I have been fortunate enough to acquire both over the past few months and getting the coils perfect has certainly been difficult. Because of the Provari’s built in protection, error codes are a plenty. The actual building of the coils is not difficult, but getting it to burn evenly without “hotspots” or shorts is. The Provari does not like this, and will almost certainly produce one of the dreaded error codes. I am not on my 15th coil & 3rd wick and still have only gotten this to work sometimes. While the flavor and vapor are amazing, for some the hassle of “getting it right” may not be. If you like to tinker, and love total control of your vape - genesis style attys are the way to go, but if not stick with pre made. I never give up - and will keep you posted with my results!

If you use the United States Postal System to ship Lithium-Ion batteries overseas, there is bad news. As of May 16th, the USPS will no longer ship devices containing Lithium-Ion batteries to international addresses. Unfortunately, this ban also includes Li-Ion batteries being shipped separately (Lithium-ion batteries, cells, and the devices that contain them will still be able to be shipped domestically).The good news for our international vaping friends ordering Li-Ion batteries from the states is that there are many other shipping options available for vendors to get the job done. The USPS anticipates that international standards to mail Li-ion batteries that are properly installed within electronic devices will be able to be shipped by Jan. 1, 2013. There is no mention of whether such international standards could also lead to a relaxation of the ban on batteries being shipped separately. Bummer! Hopefully, when standards are established, overseas vapers will once again be able to stock up on their favorite Li-Ion batteries from trusted US based vendors. This past Saturday, I was a part of a 15 person bachelor party that attended a baseball game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, home of the Baltimore Orioles. There were 5 vapers in the group, myself included. For the mathematically challenged, that’s one third of the whole bachelor party….not too shabby! Upon taking our seats, one row behind the orioles dugout, all 5 of us began vaping. Two gentlemen had silver bullets, two had egos, and I was tooting on a Reo mini. Within five minutes, an official looking Orioles employee (secret service style earpiece and all) approached and demanded that we “stop smoking, or we would be ejected from the ballpark.” Instinctively, and without hesitation, I responded, “No one in our group is smoking Sir. We are using electronic cigarettes that produce absolutely no smoke whatsoever.” His reply took me a little by surprise. He said, “oh…my apologies gentlemen. I received a complaint that someone was smoking, and obviously that’s not the case. We have no problem with e-cigarette use. Enjoy the game.” Wow! Not at all what I expected, especially when recalling the “confrontation” one of the VaporCast boys (my apologies for not remembering who) had last year with an employee at Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park concerning e-cig use at that stadium. By the 3rd inning our section was buzzing with electronic cigarette chit chat. By the end of the game, I had given away 4 disposables, which I always carry in my man purse. [Insert man purse joke here.] One of the disposables went to our usher, who was in all his vaping glory! Needless to say, we had a blast! Kudos to the Baltimore Orioles for their acceptance of e-cig use at their ballpark. I sincerely hope that other baseball organizations will follow their lead, and become more e-cig friendly in the future as the vaping community continues to grow. Vaping and baseball…it doesn’t get any better than that! And of course….Go O’s! ***Disclaimer: It is always prudent to research an organizations e-cig policy before vaping in their establishment. I have been unable to find any “official” statement from the Baltimore Orioles about e-cig use at Camden Yards. I can only report my own personal experience. Vape at your own risk!****

Thanks for the video Basil. I’m stoked to see Puresmoker have a new mod finally. I have always been a big fan of their products. yes even the Prodigy V2 ( which still works perfect BTW ) I was hoping for something a touch more fancy. Varivolt? Variwatt? Something other than a tube with a bottom switch. It’s probably top notch machining like the Prodigy V3, but “new” mods coming out, should have a few bells and whistles IMO.

Dr Lynne Dawkins of the University of East London conducted the research on 85 regular smokers (men and women). They were randomly given an e-cigarette with either nicotine or a placebo, or told to just hold the e-cigarette without using it. After five minutes of using the ‘cigarette’ as much as they wanted, participants completed a cravings and mood questionnaire. They repeated the questionnaire a further 20 minutes after using the e-cigarette. In addition, 60 of the participants completed a working memory task 10-15 minutes after using the e-cigarette.

The results showed that the e-cigarette with nicotine helped men more than women in terms of reducing their craving and improving their mood. The placebo e-cigarette was just as good as the nicotine e-cigarette for women. Those tested for working memory revealed that e-cigarettes with nicotine helped both men and women maintain working memory compared to those in the other groups.
