Considerable evidence suggests that e-cigarettes are an effective smoking-cessation tool for adults in the United States, where hundreds of thousands of people die of smoking-related illness each year.
Kenneth Warner, dean emeritus and the Avedis Donabedian Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health, says, however, that the potential of vaping to increase smoking cessation has been largely overshadowed by media coverage and policies that focus on the potential risk vaping represents for teens.

Today’s topics include how the US FDA and HHS paid Marvel Comics ( Disney ) to create cringey anti-vaping propaganda. It’s gross as hell and as Jim Mcdonald points out comically ( no pun intended ) Hypocritical. No surprise that JUUL still sucks. We have a little bit more from Marc Gunther and surprise surprise Mike Bloomberg might be a criminal still and actively contributing to a murderous dictator, so that’s rad. Also, some more science to add to the pile of vaping evidence.

Today’s topics include Rhode Island Representative Julie Casimiro. Once a very vocal “Ban Flavors To Protect Kids” lawmaker has suddenly changed her mind on vaping and is actually doing something about it. THANK YOU JULIE!! This is a huge deal IMO and part of how I see the tides turning. We are also going to talk about Bloomberg taking more heat from the UKVIA ( UK Vaping Industry Association ) being called an “Enemy Of Harm Reduction”
AND! we have some sciency stuff this week adding to the growing mountain of evidence in favor of smokers using far far less harmful clean nicotine vaping products.

The big topic this week in the vape / tobacco control space is a “manifesto” of sorts. A paper put out by veteran tobacco control leader Cliff Douglas. Cliff Douglas has worked in tobacco control for 33 years, he founded the American Lung Association Center For tobacco Control. This guy is a huge deal and has written a pretty earth shaking paper.
We are going to dive into it, talk about our take aways and discuss what this means for the bigger tobacco control landscape and how I believe this will be one of the catalysts for mainstream vape acceptance.
Vapers are needed for a survey being conducted by The Cochrane Library. The Cochrane Library recently conducted a meta-analysis of 100s of different studies, related to the success of smoking cessation using nicotine e-cigarettes.
I’ll just let them explain it in plain english.
Nicotine e‐cigarettes probably do help people to stop smoking for at least six months. They probably work better than nicotine replacement therapy and nicotine‑free e‐cigarettes.
They may work better than no support, or behavioural support alone, and they may not be associated with serious unwanted effects.
